U11 Muskerry Blitz

We had our Final U11 Muskerry Blitz last Sunday at home.  Teams that attended were Ballincollig, Inniscarra, Grenagh, Eire Og, Blarney, Cloughduv and Aghabullogue.

Our girls (Ali O'Mahony, Fiona Linehan, Orla Keating, Katie Jones, Danielle O'Sullivan, Aisling O'Sullivan, Rachel Lynch, Erika Lenihan, Orla McCarthy and Sophie Jones) have really come on in recent months and skills shown at these matches are brilliant.  We are seeing all the girls starting to lift the ball during play and hooking/ blocking has really come on.

Well done to all girls involved and thanks to those who helped on the day with Referee/ Pitches/ clean up etc.  It was very much appreciated.

Ballincollig Senior A

Very sadly we bowed out of the championship last Sunday when we were defeated by Ballygarvan on a 0-11 to 0-09 score line. We played with a strong breeze in the first half but struggled to dominate our opponents and went into half time only two points in front. We kept ahead for most of the second half and at one stage went four points up, but Ballygarvan went in front with a few minutes remaining and we were not able to rescue the match. While we have not achieved our goal this year, we hope that lessons have been learned and that we will come back stronger in 2012 to have a more successful tilt at the championship.

Can I thank all the players for their commitment this year, You are a fantastic group to have worked with and hopefully next year will bring the success that you deserve. Secondly a sincere "Thank You" to our own club for the un-wavering support throughout the season. Finally it was wonderful to see so many Ballincollig people in Mahon last Sunday supporting your team to the bitter end. We are sorry that we could not match your enthusiastic support by coming away with the win that everyone so badly wanted.

delight of the large following of parents.

U9 Indoor blitz in Riverstick Sunday March 13th

U9 Panel for indoor 7 aside blitz in Riverstick Sunday March 13th. Kate, Amy, Anna, Aideen, Chloe, Aoife, Jasmine, Caoimhe, Eabha and Ellie.
The girls played 3 very fast paced exciting games against Ballinhassig Team1, Ballinhassig Team2 and Sliabh Rua, each player got to play two games.
In all 4 great great goals were scored by Caoimhe, Aoife, Eabha and Anna, all coming from very strong team work with all girls playing a very intelligent passing game. Some powerful shots from Amy and Ellie in midfield really helped the forwards in their goal scoring efforts. Aideen in goals kept a clean sheet, helped by great defensive play from Jasmine and Kate. In the last game it was very close, with Chloe tackling strong and the excitement building, Anna slotted in the final goal to a great cheer from all spectators.

Team News

UNDER 10

We had an excellent turn out on Sunday and we were delighted with the
sun shining and
the hard working girls, this week we worked on their team work and
also on their ground
striking.

We shall be introducing the new Go-Game rules for Under 10's over the
coming weeks and
we are hoping to get in some challenge matches. We have some new
members to the panel
so we are delighted with the progress of the girls

TRAINING: - SUNDAY @ 12.15PM TO 1.15PM, all girls to bring their hurley, helmet,
shin guards and their own bottle of water (health & Safety reasons).

One navy jacket left on the field last week it can be collected from
the Container before or
after training.

UNDER 12

Last Sunday, some of our Under 12's travelled to Riverstick for an
Indoor Blitz. Rachel, Kailyn,
Shannen, Erin, Sarah, Megan, Clodagh, Alex and Eimear travelled.

We played Ballinhassig, Valley Rovers and Sliabh Rua. The girls gave
great performances in all
three matches and scored 17 goals in total. We had some tough
competition, but with great defending
by Megan, Alex, Rachel and Kailyn, we kept the ball in play and gave
plenty of ball to our Midfield
and forwards, Sarah, Clodagh, Eimear, Erin and Shannen. The pulling
and striking shown by girls
last week was brilliant, let's hope to see the same skill and
determination going forward in all our
matches. Ye did us proud girls.

We have a challenge match organised for next Wednesday in Ballygarvan.
Time to be confirmed.
All details will be given at training on Sunday.

Training continues every Sunday 12.15 – 1.15pm. Please be on time for
training and if you cannot
make it, please text Linda.

weather. Hopefully we can re-organise this mach as soon as possible.

and Thursday nights at 7

o'clock. If there is any change, you will be notified by text.

Challenge match this Sunday afternoon against Douglas, hope all make
an effort to attend, both
training and match as our league matches start next Friday.

Well done to Jessica Hennigan who played for cork A's on Sunday last
against Clare and had a
fantastic win!

Well done to Rachel Nevin and Ciara O'Riordan who both did very well
in the Cork B trials on
Saturday, Mahon pitch.

JUNIOR/UNDER 18

Enniskeane came to Ballincollig on Saturday night for a 6.45pm throw
in. Due to work and
illness we had a very tight panel, however, the 15 girls and guest
player Eimear O Sullivan
gave a great account of themselves.
Ciara Mc in goal was secure and her back line of Aisling Hennigan,
Eimear and Fiona Ryan
worked hard over the hour and marshalled the full forward line well,
half back line Rebecca
O Callaghan, Laura Driscoll & Emer Nolan all had very strong outings,
our first half mid
field pairing of Aisling Walsh and Sarah McCoy worked very hard and
Aisling, who had also
played on Friday night was in excellent form and popped over some nice
points from placed
balls.
We moved our 7 forwards around but all girls worked tirelessly over
the hour, Laura O
Leary, Laura O Donoghue, Chloe Hennigan, Noreen Bradley, Meabh McManaman, Sinead
O Sullivan and Claire Delea..... our scores coming from Chloe, Sinead,
Noreen and Claire...
it was our first outing of the season an all the girls are setting
their markers to be on the
starting championship 15 for the summer. Keep up the hard work and we
will hopefully
have a second challenge game next weekend..... Get well to all our
sick players and speedy
recovery to our injured girls.....

TRAINING: WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY @ 7PM TO 8PM (any changes will be
advised by text from Mairead)

We have just got our league fixtures and starting the 1st April we
shall be playing every
FRIDAY FOR 6 WEEKS so keep Fridays free if you are working.......

More match details soon.....

SENIOR

We reached the final of the Ballincollig Credit Union Floodlit
tournament with a good win
over Glen Rovers on Friday last. The first half was very even but the
girls upped the intensity
in the second half and put the game out of reach with 10 minutes to
go. Welcome aboard to
Sinead who capped her debut with a classy goal which was added to be
goals from Meabh
and Ashley. We need to say "well done" to our defence too which has
only conceded one
goal in the three matches to date in the tournament.

The final is now to be played on Friday 25th and not the 18th as
originally planned. We are

due to face Douglas for the early season bragging rights. Please come
along and support your
team.

Our first league game is to be played on 3rd April at 12pm at home to
Courcey Rovers.

OTHER

Well done to the U16 girls, Fiona O'Brien, Mia Cronin and Judy Murphy,
who won the
Munster final with Mount Mercy last Friday.

Ballincollig Players on the CORK teams.

Cork Camogie had a busy weekend with their Under 16's and Adult teams
all playing, we
were represented at Under 16 by Jess Hennigan and they had a very good
win with Jess
playing at wing forward;

On the Adult scene we had Denise Cronin wearing the No.11 at
centre forward and Linda Dorgan with the no. 8 at mid field and both
girls did very well
and Cork ran out convincing winners against Dublin; their big test
will be next week against
Kilkenny and we hope they to their success of today. Trish Buttimer
and Alison Coughlan
were also on the panel for this match, so well done to all the girls.

At Senior B/Intermediate, we had Sarah Buckley at midfield and she was
joined by Trish Buttimer at wing forward
in the second half. This team were narrowly beaten by Waterford in the
last quarter of the
match having led for most of the game, both girls did well and will no
doubt be disappointed
with the final result..... poor shooting by the forward line over the
hour was costly to this hard
working Cork side. On this panel we also had Aisleen Sheehan and Kate
O Donoghue and the
injured Leah Weste who was unavailable due to an injury picked up
during the week we hope
Leah has a speedy recovery
