JUNIOR B

The girls played on bank holiday Monday in Ballinascarthy - this match
had been cancelled but we rallied the girls and got a good response to
travel for match start at 4.45pm.
Ballinascarthy had only 14 players available, we had a number of
injuries and players unavailable due to the leaving certificate, and
the match was nearly 45 minutes last starting as referee was delayed
in traffic but despite all of these we recorded our 3rd win in the
League. With only match to play against Castlemagner it will possibly
be the decider. However, as the match was cancelled by Castlemager
just the evening before it was to start the mentors have taken the
important decision to defer all county board fixtures till after the
exams.
The team lined out with Aisling Hen in goal and though not very busy
she kept alert to the every present threat of Ballinascarthy. Full
back Louise had a difficult job at full back, as she was our extra
player, and held the line strong, corner backs Lisa and Sinead both
performed well and when Shannen was introduced she also stuck to the
task of tight marking. Half back line of Nicola, Ciara and Rachel
Nevin were very strong and held the line and gave away only limited
ball to the attacking forwards. At midfield Edel and Mia both worked
tirelessly and set up many of our scoring opportunities.... half
forwards Laura O D (great to see back in action), Chloe Hen - who gave
her best league performance to date, and Claire Ryan all did very
well, our new look full forward line of Laura Barrett, Emma and
Orlaith all were excellent and all got on the score sheet. We
introduced the young Fiona O Brien into the half forward line and she
did very well in her first Junior league match, we also introduced new
comer from 'Cashel' Kate and she did very well setting a marker with
an excellently taken point.
Our scores came from: Laura Barrett, Emma Donovan, Claire Ryan,
Orlaith Jennings, Fiona O Brien, Chloe Hennigan and Kate O Dwyer.
A huge thank you to those who travelled on the day, we are glad it was
a worth while journey and we came away with the win... also thanks to
our injured players who travelled Aoife O Neill, Laura Barry, Jenny
Ryle and Mairead O Dwyer - all are great panel members...
