We had our last outing in the 2012 league on Friday night at home
against Castlemagner,
sadly it was not our best performance and overall the better team on
the night won...... it was
a low scoring game with both teams having to work hard to get scores.
Despite trying our hardest over the hour many of the the plans made at
training just didn't
work out on the night. Aisling in goal gave her usual strong
performance and could not be
blamed for the goal. our full back line of Shannen, captain Louise and
the inform Nicola
worked tirelessly and put their bodies on the line. In the half back
line Adele, Ciara and Emer
again did their best to stop the continuous attack and worked
tirelessly. In midfield we found
it hard to get a grip despite excellent efforts of Mia and Sinead.....
we moved things around
but again the Castlemagner duo just had a little bit more than us on
the night... the half
forwards of Chloe, Edel and Claire found this line difficult to break
down and their centre
back was on form on the night setting up play... our full forward line
didn't get a huge amount
of ball but Orlaith, Laura B and Aoife did their best.
We thought we might be down players on the night as we had many girls
coming back for
their college exams and also a number of the leaving cert students
were unavailable on the
night... but we had 25 players to chose from which is a credit to any
team and in particular a
team who have a senior team.
We introduced Laura O Donoghue who is coming back to form and was a
key player in 2011
and we are looking for her to reach those levels again this year, new
'girl' Kate Dwyer came
on the forward line, Laura Driscoll was introduced into the midfield
area, Lisa O Callaghan
came in at corner back and and Fiona O Brien came into the half forward line....
We have left the league behind us and we have a lot of work ahead but
we shall enjoy playing
the Munster Summer League and try out new things and enjoy playing
different teams. Our
first match is Monday 28th May in Brian Dillons (Dillons are a Junior
A team) but shall give
it our best shot......
Best of luck and we hope all goes well to our Leaving Cert ladies
doing their exams: Aisling
& Chloe Hennigan, Sarah McCoy, Catriona Ni Chathasaigh, Meabh McManaman, Orlaith
Jennings & Aisling Walsh.
