Under 8

The U8 girls had their first big day of matches at home this year.
They hosted Douglas, Inniscarra and Eire Og in what turned out to be a
great sporting contest with plenty of excitement to keep the large
number of supporters entertained for nearly 2 hours.
Ballincollig fielded two teams, nicknamed the Ballincollig Butterflies
and the Ballincollig Bunnies, 21 girls in all, scoring too many goals
to mention.
For the Bunnies were Ciara O'B brilliant in goal with a great strike
of the ball outfield, Sorcha pulling hard on the ball left and right,
Kate rock solid pulling on moving balls, Ailbhe fantastic at flicking
the ball into space to create room, Chloe and Ellabeth dribbled
through the opposition at ease, Ciara O'D great in the clash, Sinéad
the powerhouse at midfield full of energy, Méabh clean striker of the
ball with great sense of positioning and Niamh a golden touch around
goal.
For the Butterflies were Aoibhinn with clever puck outs and
intelligent out field play, Abby covering a lot of ground with great
tackling, both Lily May and Lily C.M scoring goals for fun, Aine
outstanding in all positions pulling left and right, Caoimhe dominated
midfield setting up a lot goals and scoring a few as well, Hazel
striking the ball across two zones, Aoife and Jill who weren't going
to be stopped when the goals were in sight, Emma showing us what clash
of the ash means and Threse timing her tackling and strikes on the
ball to perfection.
Special thanks to the girls that refereed the matches, Fiona, Mairead,
Ciara and Jess.
After the matches it was back to the club house where both players and
supporters enjoyed refreshments prepared by a great team of
volunteers. Thanks to all involved!
